What is WiCS?

In 1999-2000, Suzana Neves founded Women In Computer Science to help eliminate barriers between women and the technology field. Since then, WiCS has been run by undergraduate students, graduate students and faculty within the School of Computer Science to provide extra support and encouragement to the women in the program. We create opportunities for women in Computer Science, allowing them to succeed in their studies and have successful careers in the Computer Science field.

Goals

a) To recruit more females to pursue a degree in the Computer Science field.

b) To foster retention of women in the School of Computer Science through mentoring.

c) To encourage students to come together, network, and socialize through events.

d) To provide opportunities for female students to network with women professionals in the industry.
