Long Range Objectives
Objective 1: Increase the number of active members within the Chapter
- Establish the benefits of being a member of Ryerson NSBE.
- Recruit all first year students, by offering them the benefits of being a NSBE member.
- Implement programs and activities that are of interest to our members, and have members participate in the planning and execution of events.
- Recognize members for outstanding achievements and participation at the end of the academic year through chapter membership awards.
- All new members will have active roles within the chapter by helping out current the executive board.
- Implement membership incentives.
Objective 2: Continue to develop quality leadership within the chapter
- Have an attendance of at least 3 members at the Regional Leadership Conference.
- Establish several contacts with members of the Canadian Zone Board as well as the National Executive Board.
- Realize an attendance of at least 12 members at the Fall Regional Conference and National Convention.
- At least one person from the Ryerson Chapter should hold a position on the Canadian Zone Board.
Objective 3: Encourage and maintain good communication
- Strengthen ties with other NSBE chapters in Toronto and surrounding areas.
- Plan at least one joint activity with the University of Toronto Chapter per academic year.
- Ensure that all members are aware of all activities and events in advance of the actual date and request confirmation of attendance at events.
Objective 4: Increase financial vitality of the chapter
- Establish a list of alumni members who could potentially give donations or funding to the chapter.
- Identify and pursue sources of funding on Campus and Canadian Businesses.
- Create a chapter solicitation package to submit to possible sponsors.
Objective 5: Develop PCI Outreach Activities with the Chapter
- Establish the basics of a Pre-College Initiative (PCI) program and create opportunities to interact with high school students.
- Create a network of contacts of high school students, college students and teachers.
Objective 6: Develop programs to promote Academic Excellence
- Provide our members with study groups, tutoring, study workshops etc.
- EIncrease the GPA of all members to at least 3.3
- Encourage members to participate in the Ryerson Tri-Mentoring Program and volunteer with the Student Services Peer Support Network.
- Encourage all members to apply for scholarships.
- Implement the Achievers + program to give members an incentive for academic excellence
Objective 7: Encourage Technical Excellence within our chapter
- Create a list of all summer research opportunities on and off campus, and encourage members to apply for these positions.
- Create a list of companies providing summer internships and co-op positions.
Objective 8: Increase Community Awareness
- Continue to have our members volunteer with the Kiwani’s Boys and Girls Club of Toronto.
- Initiate contact with organizations such as Black Youth United (BYU), and the Black Business Persons Association (BBPA), and support as well as plan joint activities designed to positively impact our community.
Objective 9: Retention of Members
- Ensure all members are available for meetings by implementing a buddy system in which members are called by other members to inform each other on events and meetings
- Increase Public Relation by posting and delivering more flyers
