Not only interested in fashion as a commodity, but a means of self-expression are you caught in the revolving door or do you willingly enter it? Ex. Resurgence of vintage clothing, continuous reinterpretation of men’s style for women’s dress, gradual change in popular/ fashionable colour.

Interested in the sociological nature of fashion, group mentality versus the individual’s decision. As an individual are you really making your decisions independently? Exploring this response from various outlets ultimately discovering the inner workings of the industry.

Also I find this topic historically interesting. How pace in recent history has changed as the cycle has continued. Leading to trend forecasting – colour and clothing the factors affecting change and the people predicting trends. Fashion can be related to, and inspired by so many different events, people places and things but how then do trends arise?

I aspire to work in the fashion industry in a field where prediction is a necessity, either forecasting (colour and/or clothing), or in magazine where you are always producing for months and or years in advance. I believe that this research paired with my final installation will be a great stepping-stone into this avenue.
