"These are my two index fingers. I guess you could say they are asymmetrical. One is a fair bit shorter than the other due to an unfortunate accident at the old Knob Hill Farms in Scarborough, Ontario when I was about six years old. My poor grandfather had taken me there to buy groceries. Back then Knob Hill Farms had these crazy old metal shopping carts, and the handle that you pushed them with could kind of swivel up and down a bit. Well, I decided to put my poor little finger between the two pieces of metal that meet at the handle and the rest of the cart. My grandfather, somehow unbeknownst to him, moved the handle. It pinched my finger, and fully sliced off the end of it. My sliced finger has actually grown back to some extent since then. Apparently doctors say that can happen with kids. Incidentally, Knob Hill Farms sent a threatening letter to my parents after this incident that threatened them not to sue. Those knobs at Knob Hill also wrapped my finger in cotton after it was first sliced open so that the first 20 minutes in the Emergency Room at the hospital were spent taking out bits of cotton from my open wound with tweasers. Needless to say our family never bought anything at Knob Hill Farms after that. In fact, this might be what inspired my friends and I to regularly steal empty Knob HIll Farm baskets from houses in Unionville, Ontario (over a 100 at time) and claim the $2 refund for each.
